INDIAN SHORES – There is a saying that no matter how old a person is, or how experienced, there is always something new to be learned. Members of the Indian Rocks Beach Boat Club discovered that first hand on Jan. 28 when they had their boats inspected by the Coast Guard Auxiliary out of Madeira Beach.

CLEARWATER – Being able to say shake hands with the opposing team and saying “Good game!” after a loss, throwing a strike and catching pop flies are just a few of the tools the Clearwater Lady Bombers 14 and under softball team are learning.

GULFPORT – Boca Ciega Yacht Club, 4600 Tifton Drive, plans a five-week adult basic sailing class beginning Wednesday, March 7.

MADEIRA BEACH – The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-3 plans monthly safe boating classes through the end of the year at its headquarters at 299 Boca Ciega Drive.

The recreational and commercial harvest of tiger sharks and certain hammerhead sharks is now prohibited in Florida state waters.

CLEARWATER – Beginning the first Monday in February, Clearwater’s Aging Well Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, will offer an evening slow movement Tai Chi class as part of its regular offerings. The class meets Mondays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. as well as daytime classes on Mondays, 2 to 3 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
